If you don’t know the cultural expectations around cancer, what they are, it’s really important to educate yourself and find out how their culture looks at cancer and services and support. Sometimes it’s not okay to talk about illness. It’s not okay to talk about weaknesses. And so being able to educate yourself and know those things in advance can be really helpful.
